According to AFP France to transform surplus wine into hand sanitizer:
French winemakers will transform wine that went unsold during the country’s two-month coronavirus lock-down into hand sanitizer and ethanol to make room for the next harvest, a farming agency said on Thursday. Is this a viable alternative? Any profit involved?
Do you know any other uses for surplus wine?
Wine can be made into brandy or vinegar, neither of which will absorb the huge surplus.
With government subsidies it might make inroads into the ethanol fuel market. I have no idea how much subsidy would be required, but it must be more environmentally friendly than growing corn for ethanol fuel.
