Tyler,
What sort of cuisine? Is that the all-natural place on Common/Trapelo?

I would call it home cooking or comfort food. Great prices and the menu is online.

For you folks who live west, west of Boston there is Filho’s Cuccina, a great little place in Groton that serves mostly Italian food. It’s simple, crazy busy with no atmosphere but it’s cheap and the food is great. There’s also a decent little wine shop next store to pick up something if you show up on the spur of the momment.

Also in Groton is Gilson’s Herb Lycium. They are open only on Friday and Saturday nights and require reservations. The place sits only about 30-35 people. The menu is hit or miss and posted monthly.

Yep, that’s the place. It’s right next door to my friend’s wine shop: The Spirited Gourmet

Dok Bua (Thai)
Harvard St., Coolidge Corner, Brookline
$0 Corkage, BYO stems unless you want to drink out of a tumbler

West On Centre
Centre St, West Roxbury
$0 Corkage (Tuesday nights only)

Sweet Basil

$5 per bottle
They have glasses that are ok, recommend BYO glasses
dont take reservations, can get very busy and is cash only

If you guys/gals could go ahead and supply the type of cuisine and glassware situation along with the corkage fee, that’d be great… thanks. (channeling Bill Lumberg)

West on Centre I would classify as bistro fare, and they do have glassware.

Il Casale
Belmont
Italian
$25 corkage, functional glass. Can negociate in advane for large party

Petit Robert
Both Comm Ave(kenmore) and Columbus ave(southend)
French Bistro
$25 corkage, functional glass. Can negociate in advance for large party

Both Places are definately bring your own glasses, no corkage

Just in case nobody noticed, I added a line to the restaurants in Boston regarding the illegality of operating a BYO restaurant. Contact your restaurant before arriving with wine.

Folks have any recommendations for BYOBs in and around Newport RI?

See this thread on Spark in Newport - cheap corkage and good food per Dan Posner

A bit of a haul from in town, but always worth it. The Crystal Quail run by Harold and Cynthia Huckaby is an amazing experience. Five course priced fixed in the middle of nowhere Center Barnstead NH in an 18th century farmhouse with a small dining room that fits no more than 16-20 at a time. Only BYO, no list or other drinks. Bring your own glassware. A special place that is always unforgettable. http://www.crystalquail.com/home.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, to add to the list, here is a cool byo link for boston http://www.gobyo.com/index_B.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; [cheers.gif]

Adam, thanks for the info and welcome to Berserkers!

The Yama suggestion above is a great one - fully BYO and in my opinion unbeatable sushi for the price. Not cheap, but much cheaper than the trendy joints in town

Had dinner Saturday night at Il Forno in Acton.

Italian fare
BYO - No Corkage
Bring own glassware.

Reasonable prices, decent food, and great service.

No reservations but call ahead seating on weekends.

Also, La Boniche in Lowell.
French- Bistro style
Allow BYO with $15 corkage,
Barely passable stemware

Bump - any other thoughts besides Spark (as listed above)?
