Cork vs Screwcap or ???

Mssr. Duroux:

Thank you for participating here.

What are your thoughts on the future of cork vs. screwcap or other alternative closures for long-lived wines like Palmer?

I think that screwcaps work perfectly and the reason why we don't use them is just a marketing issue.

That is an amazing statement! (And one that I would agree with.)

Would you be open to having consumers, in the en primeur phase, to choose their bottle closure as well as the bottle format?

Wow, I'm not sure I can get my head around a screw cap closure for a wine that I might mature for 20+ years . . . .

This is one of my favourite topics at the moment. I hadn't considered customer choice before.

I bought some wine recently from a winery that tried screw caps for the first time. They bottled a couple releases half with screw caps and half with corks so I got to choose. I chose screw caps.
