Dominio IV Berserker Day V Offer!

Greetings Berserkers!

Dominio IV Wines has been producing site-driven wines in the Pacific Northwest since 2002 and is the passion and effort of husband and wife duo Patrick Reuter (poet/winemaker) and Leigh Bartholomew (viticulturalist-extraordinaire, formerly of Archery Summit) and a small team of dedicated individuals!

The biodynamically farmed Three Sleeps Estate Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge AVA was planted in 2001/02 to Tempranillo, Syrah and Viognier. In 2012 an additional acre of Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Malbec was planted in the fine, sandy loam soils & a field blend bottling will be vinified in the coming years from the Labyrinth block.

The winery is located in McMinnville, closer to the sites growing Pinot noir that we lease on long term contracts. The small facility is in the Granary District and is home to a wide variety of small-lot wines: Estate grown Tempranillo, Syrah and Viognier, vineyard designate Pinot Noir as well as skin-contact Viognier/Syrah rose, old vine Riesling, Chardonnay and high-elevation, Rogue Valley Viognier.

The philosophy that guides farming and production is that of conscientious viticulture, minimal intervention and spirited experimentation. Wines are vinified in small lots, with use of mostly native yeasts, gentle extraction, delayed malolactic, little fear of oxygen and oak utilized primarily as a structural element as opposed to a source of aromatics and flavors. We hope to highlight site, vintage and produce wines that are compelling.

We hope you find these wines enjoyable, compelling and fun. Thank you for your support!

Dominio IV Sampler Pack

3 pack includes one of the following | 6 packs include 2 each of the following

2011 Willakia Vineyard Pinot Noir Block 36 | $38 retail | 78 cases produced
Presenting dark red and black pit fruit aromatics, along with lavender, toffee, marzipan, plum, mocha bean, raw sugar and dark mineral. Both bright and spiced, the palate is lifted with piney acidity, dense with fine tannin and leads into a long, fresh and chalky finish.

From David S. of the Wine Advocate: “By far their most successful (though by no means the most expensive) wine from the Willamette’s iconic grape that I have thus-far tasted, Dominio IV’s 2011 Pinot Noir Willakia Vineyard mingles salted beef stock with dark cherry, piquant inflections of pit, lemon rind, and rose radish serving for vintage-typical invigoration. Moss and Virginia tobacco add to the intriguingly complex savor of a long-finishing Pinot apt, I suspect, to be worth following through 2018. 91 WA”

2006 Tempranillo Reserve Tango | $42 retail | 88 cases produced
Opening with brown sugar, dusty huckleberry & anise, the aromatics move into rosewood, fig and dark honey. Abundant, nutty & fine textured tannin balance acidity and sweet, earthen flavors. Long, complex and nuaced, this Reserve Tempranillo benefits from decanting and will develop for many years to come in a cellar.

From David S at Wine Advocate: “From Dominio IV’s Three Sleep Estate in the Columbia Gorge, their 2006 Tempranillo Reserve The Tango was vinified with a high percentage of whole berries, but no stems; and was given 18 months elevage, though not released until earlier this year. If it doesn’t convince you that this grape belongs in this part of Oregon, I don’t know what would! A ravishingly complex and varietally-typical nose of candied cherry, cigar ash, vanilla, licorice and sweat, anticipates the diversity and intrigue of a rich mid-palate with fine-grained tannin. Hints of peat and burley tobacco further inflect a sappy and sustained finish. My guess is that this will be worth following through at least 2016 and quite possibly well beyond. 92 WA”

2012 Viognier Still Life | $22 Retail | 193 cases produced
Aromatics such as white nectarine, crisp Asian pear, minerals, sage & lemongrass compliment oyster shell, honeysuckle & white tea. Juicy acidity brings out key-lime, mineral & tart fruit flavors in a long linear finish, which gains weight with time in the glass.

[David S. at Wine Advocate wrote of the 2011 Viognier Still Life: “Sourced from two high-elevation sites in the Rogue Valley, Dominio IV’s 2011 Viognier Still Life delivers pungent, cepage-typical scents of acacia, honeysuckle, white peach and lime, to which cress and white pepper – along with some tartness of green apple – lend invigoration and cut on an otherwise glossy-textured and expansive palate. This quite lush but unusually vivacious as well as persistent Viognier will, I suspect, serve well until 2015. 90 WA”]
