At Denison Cellars, we produce wines of elegance and grace, utilizing fruit sourced from small, sustainably farmed vineyards. Our winemaking philosophy is to be true to the site, true to the vintage, and true to the varietal, with minimal intervention in the process.

The 2012 vintage was one of near ideal conditions. The wines are dark, voluptuous, are getting great reviews, and are disappearing quickly!!

2012 DENISON CELLARS KIFF VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
The 2012 Kiff Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 667, 777, and pommard clones. Each contributes unique characteristics; 667 provides mid-palate volume and dark fruit flavors, 777 adds red fruit, and pommard adds rose petal, mineral notes, and structure. The resulting wine has rich mid-palate volume, velvety tannins, and a long, seamless, finish, with flavors of bing cherry, mixed berries and cranberry that lead into notes of cinnamon and lavender. The fruit was harvested on October 12th, and spent three days in a cold-soak to extract color. Fermentation was completed in small, one-ton bins, and took thirteen days to complete. French oak barrels were used for aging, 25% of which were new, and the wine was bottled in April after spending 13 months in barrel. Only 53 cases were produced.

pH: 3.61 TA: 5.3 g/L ABV: 14.5% Production: 53 cases Suggested Retail: $38

2012 DENISON CELLARS JOHNSON RIDGE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
The 2012 Johnson Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 777 (50%) and pommard (50%) clones. Each contributes unique characteristics: 777 adds dark color, black cherry and blackberry flavors, while pommard adds flavors of plum, minerality, and voluptuous structure. The resulting wine has dense mid-palate volume, velvety tannins, and a long, seamless finish, with a hint of forest floor and spice. The fruit was harvested on October 18th, and spent three days in a cold-soak to extract color. Fermentation was completed in small, one-ton bins, and took sixteen days to complete. French oak barrels were used for aging, 20% of which were new, and the wine was bottled in May after spending 13 months in barrel. Only 50 cases were produced.

2012 DENISON CELLARS TÊTE DE CUVÉE PINOT NOIR
Tête de Cuvée Pinot Noir is only produced when we are able to create a blend that transcends our single-vineyard wines. This was the case in 2012, when we combined the ripe red fruit and intensity of Kiff Vineyard fruit with the dark, dense flavors and mid-palate volume of Johnson Ridge fruit. The resulting wine is balanced and complex, with rich flavors of spiced plums, red and black berries, cherry, and a hints of menthol and forest floor, all of which leads into voluptuous mid-palate volume, velvety tannins, and a long, seamless finish.

The Kiff Vineyard fruit was harvested on October 7th and 12th, followed by Johnson Ridge Vineyard on October 18th. All of the fruit spent three days in a cold-soak to extract color, and 5% was whole-cluster fermented. Fermentation was completed in small, one-ton bins, and took up to 16 days to complete. French oak barrels were used for aging, 20% of which were new, and the blend was created in November, after spending 13 months in barrel. Bottling was completed in May; only 42 cases were produced.

pH: 3.62 TA: 5.2 g/L ABV: 14.5% Production: 42 cases Suggested Retail: $55

The 2012 Denison Cellars Pinot Noirs are unfined and unfiltered, and to prevent any incidence of cork taint, are bottled under a twist-off closure.
