Felidia is closing

End of an era.
My press club met there monthly, used to love going there.

Not really news. They have been closed since COVID started, the building had a ‘for sale’ sign on it the whole time. Recently it changed to a ‘for rent’ sign, which I find interesting if the new owner bought the building and already has a plan for the 1st floor space. Lastly, Fortunato had been cooking at Babbo in the spring but left early summer, did his month in Sicily with his mother, and posted pics at the end of August that he moved to DC/NVA. So if you were in the know, Felidia closed a year and a half ago.

Never been. Even pre COVID they had the highest wine cork fees around.

Shan,

The food was worth it. Fortunato is an amazing chef.

So, is he opening his own place?

Last time I was there, for lunch in 2012, if felt tired and the wait staff seemed like they were going through the motions. I was a little surprised that it stayed open as long as it did.

But the prices were lofty until the end.

He’s working for a chain of higher end spots in Northern Virginia is what I gather.
