Seafood Fest at Father Saxon's

Steve and I hit Hood Canal yesterday to catch some Spot Prawns, Oysters and Clams. Here’s the results:

Bacon wrapped oysters and a few Costco hotdogs for the kids.

Mag of 1996 Domaine de la Louvetrie (Landron & Fils) Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie Le Fief du Breil and a Mag of 1983 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens

The gang: Ed and Joan Murray, Jeff Twersky, Steve and Paula, Carey, Don and Karen Kittmer.

Wow, that last shot has some beautiful wines!!

How did you catch that many prawns??

That’s awesome!

Fantastic, I sent several of those straight to the Food Porn folder for my iMac slideshow. We used to catch shrimp and crabs in NOLA with a can of dog food and a throw net…

Any issues with the 99 Bonneau du Martray CC?

None at all.

Ed said that he opened one recently and it was oxidized. This bottle was everything (good) one hopes for in a 10-year-old white burg. That said, my other bottles are in the queue for quaffing sooner rather than later so as not to risk the fates on oxidation.

We did a mini vertical tasting here in ATL about 2 weeks ago…99 was oxidized…when it is on it is great…but oxidized is never good.

After reading the TNs on CT (either too young or oxidized), I figured that I’d rather drink them too young than pour them down the drain.

Agreed…but if you can get a taste of the 85 its fantastic…and exactly why white burgundy is aged.

White burgundy before '96, anyway.

Well, 95…the 95 Ramonets are TERRIBLE!

Never had one, and hopefully I never will.

Avoid.

Hey a great time last night…killer food and wine.

The great thing about doing this at my house is that I get to try the left over wine the second day.

I think I’ll steam the clams in Phil’s Montrachet tonight.

Phil,
You and Father Saxon really know how to do it.
What beautiful prawns.
Cheers to all of you.
Don

Can’t imagine that there was much left over. Enjoy.

Phil left his wine bag here and in it was a 96 Pommard and a Montrachet. Finders keepers…

Fantastic showing gents. Someday I am going to find some time and come crash your gig.

I’ll believe it when I see it. [gheyfight.gif]
