best hot dogs?

The neighbors are having a Frankfurter roast. I want to bring some really good Franks. I’m leaning towards Lobels but would love some other options. Got a favorite?

I don’t have a favorite, and honestly didn’t even know Lobel’s made dogs. I was going to suggest D’Artagnan, however. I look forward to seeing some other suggestions!

Benjamin, you might want to check Hot Doug’s in Chicago as well.

We like Niman Ranch Uncured Fearless Franks.

Can’t help. The only thing that shows up at our house is Hebrew National, but they are better than the ones served at the local golf courses.

Vienna Beef natural casing. May not be the “best”, but it’s our go to

I’ll second the Vienna natural casing. Local deli here carries the 1/4lb size and they are always a crowd pleaser.

Jim, from Michigan and your answer wasn’t a clear: Koegel’s??? C’mon!

See if you can find Pearl in you area. Perfect balance of taste and bite due to natural casing.

Here is the best I have ever had: Oscar’s in Warrensburg NY.

You can have them sent to you. Weiners is what they are called there. $5 for 8 I believe. Simply perfect.

Shy of that, the second best I have ever had is Hummels in Connecticut.

Classic Hot Dog:

Here’s the Science:

Now you are absolutely welcome to use and enjoy anything else that you like. You can use ketchup if you like. You can even call whatever you are eating a “hot-dog”. It’s all good. Enjoy yourself. I’m just showing you here what a “real authentic hot-dog” is.

This is just for fun:

Does no one see the humor and absurdity of this thread or is everyone so wacked out about judging and evaluating every insignificant morsel of food and drink they ingest that this seems normal?
