Stoneking Auction Lot 21 - Ridge Wines at Bandon Dunes - CLOSED

#1 Post by Brian Tuite » December 8th, 2017, 7:15 pm

Lot 21 is an interesting one for the wine-loving golfers or non-golfers for that matter. Dr G l e n n Levine is donating Ridge Vineyards wines from 5 decades and wine service as your foursomes private Sommelier at one of four restaurants of your choice at Bandon Dunes. (Although he reccommends the Lodge) Glenn will suplly the wines and cover all corkage charges but not the food. Wines will include Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and a Monte Bello or two. Maybe a surprise as well!

Ridge Wines from:
‘70s
‘80s
‘90s
‘00s
‘10s
Personal Somm Service for 4 and all corkage fees.

Bidding will close on Thursday December 14th @ 12:01 am PST.

Stoneking Auction Lot 21 - Ridge Dinner with your own Private Somm

#2 Post by Glenn L e v i n e » December 8th, 2017, 7:23 pm

All the wines come from my cellar, the older bottles purchased via the secondary market often from estate or cellar sales.

I can deliver the five bottles for your foursome to enjoy or join your group for dinner.

Bandon Dunes is one of America's premier golf destinations and I live close-by. If you love golf & wine this could be your lucky lot. Bob Wood, we miss you man.

From the east coast the trip is arduous but plenty of Berserkers have visited Bandon Dunes.

I have cool Ridge wines to uncork as I have almost 200 bottles in my cellar. The lamb in The Lodge is absolutely top-shelf, as is the Rib-Cap steak if it's in.

Legal marijuana quite plentiful in the region as well.

This really is a killer auction listing, and Glenn is terribly generous and creative. I doubt I can get to BFE Oregon, but perhaps Doc will mail me the stuff. I can invite Charlie Carnes and MarcF over, Doc can facetime us: Facetime Somm!

Robert - your and your posse have to come west man. Service is at Bandon Dunes! If this gets bid up enough I'll caddy a round too, surgery schedule permitting.

Arnold - I was asked the same question privately so here goes. The offer lives as long as I live and continue to reside in Coos Co, OR. I will put the wines chosen from each decade (and a surprise or two) away separately once this auction closes so the bottles never get consumed. They will reside in my Pacific Ocean-side passive storage until a month or so before golfers arrive, then I will set them upright.

We just moved to Coos Co and God-willing it will be home for at least five years. If I die unexpectedly my wife will know where these wines reside and she can make the delivery to the restaurant of the winner's choice at Bandon Dunes when golfing time comes along.

I have the bottles from each decade picked out and have substitutes from the 70s & 80s if the initial bottles show poorly. I'm confident the bottles from the 90s, 00s & 10s will show well as I originally purchased these.

I will share that visiting and drinking wine with Glenn is one of the most memorable visits I've had with wine forums folks. He does it right...almost a decade ago (when he lived in CA) I visited with him and still find myself thinking I'm long overdue to visit again. At anything less than a grand this will be a steal...

Thank you, that was a really great dinner Kirk but I won't be opening the 71 Eisele at Bandon Dunes!

The 67 E. Pira & Figli Chiara Boschis we had that night is a haunting bottle. What a wine that was, miss you man.

Definitely have some fun Ridge wines picked out for this auction winner.

Right coasters golf at Bandon too Pete! Truly a destination resort.

Looking like Mr. Caplan will score this lot. I'm thinking about dialing a Ridge Petite Sirah into one of these decades, for whenever this night happens.

Some late private message interest asking for the specific wines. Line-up photo will be sent to winner and he/she can decide about posting, or maybe just tasting notes after the night happens.
