Just looking for a little variety. I totally agree that 2014 is superior to 2013 and 2012. I have had other Loire reds from these vintages from Baudry and Roches Neuves and the 2014’s do stand out in quality. I kinda went overboard with 2014 Rougeard buying 1.5 cases
I do not have any 12’s or 13’s so I wanted to have some other vintages to try. I have drank a few older vintages of Rougeard (the 2011 Lex Poyuex still haunts me) but no 12’s or 13’s.
I drank the 2011 Les Poyeux I think 2 or 3 times (bought it for $80) in 2018 - 2019. It was excellent because it was open and ready when I drank them. I also drank 2010 Les Clos at a later date twice, but it was definitely more closed. The 2010 had really good bones and would be a better wine in the future, but for sheer drinking pleasure, the 2011 Les Poyeux was the one to open at that time.
Take note though, from what I heard the 2011 Lex Poyeux was definitely better than the 2011 Les Clos.
I’ve not had enough Rougeards to comment on that, but from comments I’ve seen, I guess I was saying that there are certain vintages where the extra tariff for Les Poyeux isn’t necessarily worth it?
my 2015 Lex Poyeux - for 2012, 2011, 2010, or 2008 Les Poyeux
my 2014 Lex Poyeux - for 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Poyeux
my 2015 Les Clos - 2013, 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Clos
my 2014 Les Clos - 2013, 2012, 2010, or 2008 Les Clos
I have a couple of at-release purchased 2008 CR-LPs that’s been on the trading block for a few years now and am always on the lookout to expand vintages, specifically 2014. Too bad, I’m not within your required radius.
Btw, one of the highlights of our local Rougeard v Baudry head-to-head the other night was the 2008 CR Le Clos.
I cannot see your location from your signature, I assume you are outside CA? Or maybe in the southern CA area? I am looking for older vintages so I can drink them now, I just feel that it would be kind of wasteful to crack open 2014 or 2105 right now.
