Reserved our room, too...

I'm assuming, Peter, this will be a children friendly event. Petting zoo and the like.

I almost always stay at the Anderson's Pea Soup Inn in Buellton. A smidgin over $100/night with my Military ID. [thankyou.gif]

It's not fancy, but it is close to Industrial Eats and one of the closest places to Loring and Cargassachi.

Todd - Brad and I would potentially be interested in joining that weekend. We're going to Napa for Thanksgiving, so hanging with all you guys on the way up could be fun. I'll talk to Brad, but let us know if there's still room!

Mark, there's room for all - we'll just amend the program as needed, depending on how many we have!

Sounds great Peter. Thanks for the hard work in the midst of harvest.

We've had great experience at Hadsen House in Solvang but they appear to have a two night minimum. Thinking about splurging on the Santa Ynez Inn but was wondering if anyone had any luck with a room at Chumash? Websites all say it's sold out. Maybe we could arrange a van service to and from Pea Soup Andersens?

This one looks like a good deal - 3 stars (most in the area are 2 stars) and great price - http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.htm ... west_first

Thoughts, Carg?

25 miles away from venue. I've stayed here, and it was my least favorite hotel in the SYV. Just FYI.

Look for a B & B in Santa Ynez/Solvang area, or hotel in Buellton.

Not even in the SYV.

Having van service is going to be easier if most people pick the same hotels.

In the last four months I have stayed at both the Holiday Inn and the Petersen Village Inn in Solvang. Both are within walking distance of downtown. I thought the Petersen was a bit nicer, a few blocks closer to downtown and across the street from the Solvang Brewing Company - so I give that a slight edge. Unless we get critical mass at another hotel - I plan on booking one of these two.

I'm hoping we find something good in Buellton, as Jen is not a fan of the touristy Solvang [snort.gif]

Although touristy, Solvang is closer and I did book the Holiday Inn...actually went for three nights so will head home on the following Monday.

Buellton has a few places. I stayed at the inn next to pea soup Anderson. Not exactly high (or mid) end but easy access to the road.

Also can always stay at Chumash casino. The hotel is separate and I think it's nice

I've stayed at the Days Inn Buelton, not exactly the Biltmore but was a clean and comfortable. Also the Flying Flags RV park has cottages and even really nice AirStreams if you want the RV experience without owning the RV. http://www.flyingflags.com/amenities/rates/

The Quality Inn, right by the 101 is very good, clean and has very nice bedspreads. Nothing funky.

Pre-pay is usually around $120.

They also accept pets.

Booked A hotel for Saturday night. Looking forward to it. Peter can you be sure there is a food option for someone who does not eat meat (she eats anything from the sea, vegetarian or Turkey)? Thanks.

Hopefully next week I'll have a good idea of the itinerary and can post details, and cost, so we can start to collect money for it.

As for hotels, because Jen and I are staying a few days before the weekend in Santa Barbara (for Jen's work event), we'll probably stay there the whole time, which means I have a nice long drive back that evening, unfortunately. I mention it only for those who might want to also stay in town, and carpool if possible, or, if we can get one of the smaller shuttles to turn into a party van and go back and forth between town and Santa Ynez champagne.gif

Just hire a DD. Issue solved and worth the small amount of cash involved.

Are any events being planned for Sunday? I would assume that by about noon everyone would be awake and could partake in one tour or tasting before driving back to wherever they came from, leaving in their wake hundreds of empty bottles of wine.

Excellent point. Hopefully, there will be enough folks around to enjoy Sunday as well. We plan on driving home Monday. Getting the hang of this retirement gig!!! flirtysmile

It's looking like our kids (and grandkids) are coming in from Arizona that weekend for an early Thanksgiving. So I think you have to count us out. Darn, sounds like it would be wild. Maybe nextime.

Welcome, Sandra!!

Folks, we might have to watch out for Sandra and Alan, as they were essentially 'sent over' to us by Nikki...so she's probably a little party animal, amiright??
