TENTATIVE SCHEDULE: (courtesy of Nikki Nelson)

Fri dinner - Industrial Eats or Hitching Post / try and work out no or a decreased corkage - IE would I am sure be willing to work out a killer pre-fixe family style menu for us and waive all corkage, etc for around $40-50/head, both restaurants are close to all the main hotels as well.

Sat day: Hunt/Tastings time - 4 to 5 hours duration / tastings/task assigned at tasting no longer than 30 min. each ideally to allow time to determine what’s next/travel time to next place, etc.
Wineries to be visited:
Loring/Carg
Liquid Farm
Clos Pepe
Crawford Family Wines (? I think this would be a new spot to hit and they are making great wines, super teeny production, etc)
Zotovich (perhaps Ryan could host a tasting at his trailer which would provide a perfect opp for a crazy task there and prevent the drive time from Lompoc cutting into things?)

The teams would intentionally be sent in opposite areas so that no more than one team would be somewhere at the same time.

Sat night, at the Santa Ynez Historical Museum (rented out) - http://www.santaynezmuseum.org: (hoping that) Erik from Cheese Store BH is interested in coming up and if so, we'll have the last leg of the “Hunt/Competition” be a Grilled Cheese War w/ each team having to create their own version from a box of ingredients and non-players voting on the top dish - Erik would compete, so we’d give a certain amount of points to 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
That would provide appetizers
dinner would be grilled meats manned by various Berserkers, grilled rodents and rare animals by Carg
plus Liquid Farm could make some sides/other winemakers coming could do the same (i.e.; Brit Zotovich) and/or we can have some stuff catered in. If Erik IS coming up he could possibly handle that (paid for cost of goods and small amount of time for grilled cheese+sides)
Dessert - Nikki's friend Stephanie of Alta Maria is INCREDIBLE with making over the top decorated cakes/desserts and we can create something Berserkerfest 8.0 customized - of course obscene and R to X-rated. Costs covered for goods used.
Maverick Saloon post dinner - http://www.mavericksaloon.org

Sun: Free day to hit the Ghetto, visit wineries from the hunt to purchase wines and we would love to host a pop up tasting here at Nikki's house for 2-3 hours as a farewell

(Other area wineries if they wanted to could also come and pour/visit and bring wine to sell / perhaps some of that happens Sat night at the museum?)

At present, we're looking at a cost of $70 per person but as we hammer everything out, we'll update the price and start having people submit their payment so they can be secured a spot. DO NOT SEND MONEY YET! This will include grilled cheese ingredients, appetizers, sides for dinner, meats to grill, desserts, decor, trophies and game goodies, rentals and purchased dining ware, location fee per person (the museum), and a little wiggle room as it likely will be over budget.

Todd,
This all sounds great and thanks to all for the planning. I know I am not alone in asking this there be vegetarian and/or seafood-fish options. Otherwise my better half and I know a few others may have some issues.

Well, all the grilled cheese options will be vegetarian, unless someone throws some meat in there, plus we'll get some sort of fish option for the grilling, for sure. Salmon, perhaps.

I'm posting a poll in a new thread regarding the planned scavenger hunt, as it appears to be a first come-first served game, likely with a max of 18 people (three teams of 6 each). Please let us know if you think you'll be interested. if we have a huge number of people who will want to, we might have to alter plans a bit.

We'll likely be starting with a bubbles brunch, then hunt from 12:30-4:30, museum at 5pm for everybody - hunters and non-hunters.

Google Solvang, CA.
Google Buellton, CA.

Hotwire and Priceline don't show much.

There are many more hotels than I list below in Buellton and Solvang. A plethora in all ranges and prices. It doesn’t look like there is much going on in the valley that weekend.

If you plan an drinking you should plan on taking a cab.

Carriage house museum where dinner will be is a 7 mile cab ride from Buellton on 246, 15 minutes.

Nobody voted on the poll, so I removed it - we'll just allow the first 10-15 people (two or three teams) to elect in, first come, first serve, confirmed (read: paid) members take the spots.

Todd,
I also never saw a poll but it all sounds great. Thanks to you and Peter and Kara for putting this together. So we can be in the top 10-15, what is the PayPal fee so it can be added to the payment?

Not sure, but you will probably be safe if you send a check, as I just posted today, and you are in-state, so I don't expect a mad rush of checks!

I'm in!

Also, I'd like to offer up Zaca Mesa as a participating BerserkerFest tasting room. I've got it worked out that any BerserkerFest participant can come in anytime that weekend and get the Berserker Flight- a comped tasting for you and a guest that includes at least 3 of our small-lot Syrahs, and Cellar Club pricing on any purchases (20% off retail).

If you haven't checked out Zaca in a while, our winemaker Eric Mohseni is doing an awesome job with the wines. I've worked with the wines every day for the past 16 months and still enjoy popping corks on them... Come on out and mentioned BerserkerFest and get the deal!

I've got a good number of people who have paid already, so please remember to send in your payment so we know you are coming! It helps with food planning as well, and be sure to notify me if you plan to be on the Scavenger Hunt, when you submit your fee.

For Friday, we're thinking about theme dinners, rather than trying to get everybody together in one location, as there aren't as many options in this area as there are in a major city, of course. With these dinners, we'd have a wine theme, so those with a particular favorite can have a smaller group event the night before the big event, where everybody shows up.

Some thoughts: Burgundy, California, Rhone, Champagne, Riesling...and we have the following suggested restaurants:

Cecco, Santa Ynez Kitchen, Mattei's, Flatbread, Mirabelle Inn (would be great for a Riesling dinner - run by an older German couple), and Hitching Post

I can make reservations for a group of 12 at the Buellton Hitching Post on Friday, November 21, say 7:30 pm to give folks a chance to roll in?

The wine theme will be, "wines that make you sexy, strong and smart."

You can go with the theme too, Todd. Try? It'll be easy. We'll put a bag over your head, maybe a double bag?

I'd love to see Jay Hack out here.

No need to waitlist, as we're at 10 (11 if Jim Dietz brings his wife) - you are in

Received check from Marshall Gelb, as promised, today - list is up to date.
