Walter Scott Food and Beverage Industry Relief Cases

While we hunker down at home, we are feeling helpless watching those we love lose their jobs and trying to save their businesses. We too have been scrambling to navigate the ever changing world, closing our winery to the public and hearing from our distributors who are struggling with the closure of the food & beverage industry across the country.

Most in this community share the concern. We all have favorites that are threatened in these uncertain times.

Last week we had an idea. What if we could help raise funds for the incredible organizations that are helping to provide financial, legislative and nutritional support to the food & beverage community? We could do some good, instead of watching from home, feeling helpless and lost. So we tried. We offered a case of wine on Instagram and here in the Berserker Quarantine Relief Forum that benefited The Independant Restaurant Coalition, a group that is fighting on both the national and state levels for relief for not only the Food & Beverage industry, but small business like ours.

It worked! Together, we raised $1700 for the Independent Restaurant Coalition in a week!

So, we thought, let’s take this a bit further. What other organizations are doing great work? Well, we found a few that we are very excited about. We want to share them with you, and offer an opportunity for you to help support them, and us, through this tough time.

We urge you to support these organizations, either through our benefit cases, or directly. We will get through this as a community, and we are thankful for the one that surrounds us.

The Independant Restaurant Coalition
Cuvee Anne Chardonnay Benefit Case

The Independent Restaurant Coalition was formed to save the local restaurants affected by COVID-19. IRC is founded on the simple belief that there is power to affect legislative change if we unite our voice. For the 11 million people across the country employed by restaurants – and the hundreds of millions of workers up and down the food supply and delivery chain who depend on restaurants – these small businesses cannot fail. We are fighting for them.

The James Beard Foundation Food & Beverage Industry Relief Fund
Cuvee Anne Chardonnay & Cuvee Ruth Pinot Noir Benefit Mixed Case

The purpose of the James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund (the “Fund”) is to provide critical financial assistance to small, independent restaurants that, due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) national disaster, have an immediate need for funds to pay set operating expenses and keep from going out of business. Our goal is to do our part along with federal, state, and local governments to provide for workers, sustain local business, reduce the financial impact on communities, and otherwise mitigate the severe economic consequences of this global pandemic.

Cuvee Ruth Pinot Noir Benefit Case

We are facing an unprecedented emergency, unlike anything this country has experienced in our lifetimes. Beyond the health impacts of the COVID-19 coronavirus, our economy has ground to a halt — schools and businesses are closed, travel is restricted, and restaurants face an uncertain future. Traditional safety nets like school feeding programs, childcare services, and senior centers are struggling to stay open.

This moment is not without hope. We will get through this, and World Central Kitchen has seen what’s possible as we’ve fought on the front lines in Japan and California deploying systems to deliver meals to quarantined cruise ship passengers. Our Relief Team is now serving nearly 100,000 meals every day across the country, and we need you. Together, #ChefsForAmerica can make sure nobody is left behind.

We hope you are all healthy and safe. We miss all of your faces!

Sincerely,

Ken, Erica & Lucy
