Walter Scott Benefit Cases - an update and a new Beneficiary

The Walter Scott Benefit case program has been very successful, raising $3,100 for organizations that are helping different sectors of our communities during this crisis.

It has been wonderful to see all of you come out to not only support Walter Scott, but also support our broader communities

We urge continued support these organizations, either through our benefit cases, or directly with the organizations themselves. We will get through this as a community, and we are thankful for the one that surrounds us.

This week healthcare teams on the frontlines across the globe have been on our minds. We are so grateful for their hard work and dedication to fighting COVID19 and saving lives. We desperately want to support them and say thank you.

We have been researching Organizations that are supporting the fight against COVID19 and have identified the The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO and added them to our Benefit Case program.

The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO - Benefit Case

The world has never faced a crisis like COVID-19. The pandemic is impacting communities everywhere. It’s never been more urgent to support the global response. The humanity, solidarity and generosity of people and organizations everywhere is also unprecedented. But we can’t stop now.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is leading and coordinating the global effort with a range of partners, supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic. Donations support WHO’s work, including with partners, to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate research and development of a vaccine and treatments for all who need them.

The Independant Restaurant Coalition Benefit Case

The Independent Restaurant Coalition was formed to save the local restaurants affected by COVID-19. IRC is founded on the simple belief that there is power to affect legislative change if we unite our voice. For the 11 million people across the country employed by restaurants – and the hundreds of millions of workers up and down the food supply and delivery chain who depend on restaurants – these small businesses cannot fail. We are fighting for them.

The James Beard Foundation Food & Beverage Industry Relief Fund Benefit Case

The purpose of the James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund (the “Fund”) is to provide critical financial assistance to small, independent restaurants that, due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) national disaster, have an immediate need for funds to pay set operating expenses and keep from going out of business. Our goal is to do our part along with federal, state, and local governments to provide for workers, sustain local business, reduce the financial impact on communities, and otherwise mitigate the severe economic consequences of this global pandemic.

José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen, #ChefsForAmerica Benefit Case

We are facing an unprecedented emergency, unlike anything this country has experienced. Beyond the health impacts of the COVID-19 coronavirus, our economy has ground to a halt — schools and businesses are closed, travel is restricted, and restaurants face an uncertain future. Traditional safety nets like school feeding programs, childcare services, and senior centers are struggling to stay open.
But this moment is not without hope. We will get through this, and World Central Kitchen has seen what’s possible as we’ve fought on the front lines in Japan and California deploying systems to deliver meals to quarantined cruise ship passengers. Our Relief Team is now serving nearly 100,000 meals every day across the country, and we need you. Together, #ChefsForAmerica can make sure nobody is left behind.

We hope you are all healthy and safe. Lucy says wear your masks and wash your hands!
