Ben & Gaye during their first harvest, 1998
In a small urban Seattle winery, winemaker Benjamin Smith and Gaye McNutt craft small lots of sumptuous red wines blended from the classic Bordeaux varietals. Noted for elegance, intense aromatics, mouth feel and longevity, Cadence wines reflect the exceptional terroir found in vineyard sites on Red Mountain. Established in 1998, Cadence has consistently garnered exceptional critical praise as one of Washington state’s elite wineries from Jancis Robinson, The Wine Spectator, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, The Wine Enthusiast, and Hugh Johnson’s World of Fine Wines. Annual production is just 2,000 cases from three esteemed Red Mountain sites: Ciel du Cheval, Tapteil, and our estate, Cara Mia Vineyard.
