Navigating Acorn in Denver

We are 2 work colleagues dining this week at Acorn in Denver. I think we would probably have to do 1 bottle of white (for the small plates) and something bigger (and perhaps redder) for the large proteinaceous platters based upon the published dinner menu.

Any advice in negotiating this wine list, please?

Finally, any nearby great cocktail/bar spots for pre/post libation? We may arrive early and/or stay out late.

Thanks for help in advance.

(also posted in Epicurean…not sure which is best place)

Lots to do at http://www.thesourcedenver.com
I usually check out the wine shop and the Crooked Stave taproom

Mel, my friend Nick works at the Proper Pour. Its a nice little shop.

Lots of places nearby, but Acorn is a little bit on the edge of downtown. So I would work your way back to the Coors Field area. Ophelia’s is a fun/interesting place to drink or dine. It is in a former adult book store. The Great Divide Brewing tasting room is nearby. $1 samplers, hard to beat. Falling Rock Tap house has a zillion beers on tap. ViewHouse for the, ah, views. Lots and lots of little watering holes in between and a couple pot shops too. Fun area to walk around.

The Bereche Brut is a very nice bottle of Champagne.
