I live in NY, have GE, and recently got a new passport. I don’t think I will be able to link them up at this time , but will try

I never registered for the (new) TTP system; I was registered in the GOES system . Seems like the GOES system has been replaced by TTP. And living in NY I can’t register for TTP. So since I am using so many acronyms , seems like I am SOL.

Interesting....is it because of the recent declaration by the Feds re: NY ID's? I am an original GOES and all I have to do is re-register with a new Username and PW.

Yup. I don’t travel much , but am going to Europe in April with my wife . My wife doesn’t have Global Entry so it really doesn’t matter for this trip .

They reimburse the cost of the application but they dont give you access to the program.

Some credit cards will reimburse you for the $100 Global Entry fee, once every 5 years. However, all that I have seen reimburse a total of $100 which covers one person in the family.

I have two cards that'll cover it (AA M/C and Mariott Visa) so me on one, my wife on the other.

Each additional cardholder for Amex Platinum gets the $100 credit as well.

That is a good deal. It has been a while since I have had a Platinum card and longer still since my Global Entry renewal (2015). I dropped Platinum when they kicked the fee up to $550 plus $175 for my wife. I switched to Chase Sapphire Reserve which at the time was $450. Chase has now followed Amex's lead and raised their base fee to $550 plus $75 for my wife's card effective on renewal. Sapphire Reserve still works best for us because we get a $300 annual travel credit. It isn't specific to airline tickets. The CDW coverage for rental cars is also primary coverage which simplifies the claims process if ever needed. The premium credit card landscape is ever changing and it requires far more attention than I wish to give it to determine which is the best card for us.

Some Amex corporate cards have the $100 credit reward as well-not sure which types/levels.

With Chase Sapphire Reserve, I get credit for only one of our renewals. But I do get $100 more per year in travel credit than I did with AMEX Platinum and since it is not tied to only flights, that is a plus for us. We cruise frequently.

I recently started the process of renewing my Global Entry. There is a message on the GOES site saying that due to backlogs, my membership has been extended an additional year. So now I wait for the approval and the interview if one is required this time. My wife recently (November) renewed her Global Entry. She was required to have an interview.

Just got back from France last night through JFK, my first international trip in several months. The GE kiosks no longer demand a passport swipe right away but rather ask you to take a picture, then the system identifies you (creepy...) and spits out a receipt. I assume if it can't recognize you it asks you for the passport swipe, but this was a new way of going through. That said, I was at the luggage carousel within minutes of receiving my ticket, so it's still very convenient.
Guess what? I'm ITB-> Vinotas Selections

Arrived last Sunday from Spain during a busy arrival afternoon at JFK T8.

Noted that the GE line and kiosks were quite empty, as wife and I had to do the mobile passport process for the first time after 5+ years as our conditionally-approved GE renewal interviews were denied, because of retaliatory/punitive action by trump and the a$$-kising trump-appointed interim boss at Customs Border Protection against my home state (quoted below from email received today):

"You do not meet the program eligibility requirements because you have listed the state of New York as your current residence ..."

Btw, mobile passport process was surprisingly quite a breeze and took all of 3 minutes, including wait in line and 1-question interview by the agent.

Sadly highly doubtful which is going to suck.

I forgot the sarcasm font, not good news (unless you’re European and want to live COVID free). The timing of the announcement is curious.
Great, if you try to fly to Europe and are denied boarding you can pass back through immigration lickety split.

My renewal has been approved and had my interview appointment. Unfortunately, my appointment was cancelled due to the pandemic so I have to wait to finish the process. However, it has been temporarily extended. I am hoping to go to Europe next July so I have some time to complete the process. I just checked the website and the centers are closed till AT LEAST August 10th.

Cheers!

My wife and I also renewed last year without interview. However, their official stance is an interview may be required for renewal, so I guess it just depends.

NYT reporting Trump admin officials made false statements to deny New Yorker’s eligibility. Thus, a settlement of the suit.

My first renewals was done without interview. My second renewal has been pending since November. Maybe I will learn something soon now that they are back at work. My wife's second renewal required an interview. Her first renewal did not. Maybe they are on the every other renewal must be in person schedule.

When I worked through my renewal online, I completed it with the impression that an interview was going to be required. That is how the process reads. But a week later, it was approved and a week after that, mthe new card arrived. Must be some strange algorithm that determines. Could it be related to number of trips offshore, or locations visited?

My guess and purely a guess is it's simply an every other one must be in person to update the photo. That would roughly tie it to the length of a password renewal as well (5 years x 2 versus 10).

Such a mysterious renewal process. Mine became eligible for renewal in May and I immediately filled out the renewal information due to everyone on FlyerTalk and here discussing the months' long waits and difficulty about scheduling, etc. So, I waited and thought it might be 6+ months. FWIW, no changes in my background history since I last did it.

My wife's became eligible last month and I told her she better get it done ASAP because the line was long and she's a naturalized citizen which I could conceive of potentially requiring more careful background checking. This was a Friday or Saturday night when she submitted the re-app. The very next day (weekend), her's was approved without an interview. What? Mine continued in the "pending" file for another month. It became a teasing joke between us.

Finally, mine came through this week as approved with no interview. I have no idea why mine took 2 months and her's was done in a matter of hours. I'm just glad it got done at this point.
