Recommend a driver in Willamette?

I’m headed to Willamette labor day weekend this year with my wife and friends for a couple of days of tasting. When I’ve taken similar trips in Sonoma/Napa, I’ve always hired a driver, even though I’m spitting most everything. I just don’t like to take chances behind the wheel.

We’ll be renting an SUV, so while we’d consider a car service, I’m mostly just looking for a driver who can drive us around. No need for the driver to plan the itinerary - we’ll handle that. Any recommendations?

My folks and I have always used John Swenson. I’m not sure if he’s even still driving as I’ve not been out there in a while, but we always direct folks to his group:

He’s been great through the years. I think one time my folks went recently the son-in-law of the Anderson family (that owns Anderson Family) was driving. They know everyone and everywhere and the area like the back of their hand.

Thanks John!

I’m headed to WV in april and staying in McMinnville, and planning on testing lyft and uber and I will report back.

Just two of us at the moment.

Sean

Interesting. Let me know how it goes!

Bump. Anyone else with suggestions?

Hi Sean - any word on how well Lyft/Uber worked?

I am organizing a trip with four couples (8 persons total) for this coming September. Any thoughts on current availability of Lyft/Uber would be most appreciated.

Crickets …

Bill,
There are a few Uber/Lyft drivers in McMinnville. I don’t use them because I can walk or drive where I want to go. There is a general shortage of workers in the area, and, frankly, driving an Uber doesn’t compare well with working at a restaurant and getting minimum wage plus tips.
