layover in Munich

During travel next month, I will have a 7-hour layover in Munich en route to Sicily. All I’m looking to do is head into town, grab lunch at the Augustinerkeller (behind the train station), and head back to the airport. If it seems I have extra time to kill, I will head over the Marienplatz and/or Viktualienmarkt.

Luggage will be checked through to our final desitnation, so that’s one less concern.

My questions are about transportation. Should I pre-book anything, and if not what’s my best bet: Munich S-Bahn, taxi at the airport, or Uber?

The airport is a decent way out of town and expensive by taxi (€60 each way last time I did it and that was 2012).

S Bahn is relatively quick and cheap (I remember it being just a little longer than the car when I looked into it). Airport is far out so taxis are expensive.

S Bahn. Piece of cake. Cheap. Reliable.
