Portland (Maine) tips?

I’m attending a wedding this weekend in Portland, ME, but will have a lot of downtime during the day because the rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony/reception are both evening affairs. Any good wine shops or bars worth visiting?

If you like beer you have to visit http://novareresbiercafe.com/

And of course http://www.central-provisions.com/ Amazing wine and food.

Duck Fat is fun.

Other beer stuff would be Bissell Brothers.

Holy donut is good, potato flour so a bit different. We got some nice finishing salts at the salt cellar.

Just returned from Portland and second Central Provisions.

If you do not go to EvenTide you are missing perhaps the best place in town. They have amazing Oysters, the Lobster roll is served on a warm brioche roll, and the clam chowder is very unique and some of the best I have ever had. It is not your typical creamy New England porridge.

I took my two boys 18 and 25 and they loved the place. It was the first time my 18 year tried Oysters and now he is ruined! A great experience.

Caution, we arrived at 10:30am on a Saturday. There were 10 people in front of us and by 11am (opening) the line was about 100 people.

Apparently, Portland is a popular wedding destination we were there a few weeks ago and there were three wedding parties at the Westin.

I didn’t get to go anywhere, but there is actually an Eventide location back near me in Boston. I keep meaning to check it out.
