Retailers/restaurants in W/NW Mass?

I will be delivering a daughter to college up that way this fall, and expect to find myself in the area many times over the next four years.

Any recommendations on retailers, restaurants or anything else wine-related in west or northwest Massachusetts?

Thanks!

These folks are in Lenox > https://www.nejaimeswine.com/main.asp?request=CONTACTUS

I shop there when Iā€™m in town. They also sell gourmet cheeses and groceries. Itā€™s a fun store.

Thanks very much, Dan ā€“ Iā€™ll check it outā€¦

Table and Vine.

I guess the ā€˜flagshipā€™ store is now in W Springfield, but back in the day the Northampton store was awesome.

I was relatively recently in the Berkshires.

Best restaurant I found was https://frankiesitaliano.com/

Also pretty good and with the most interesting wine list was https://district.kitchen/

If I recall correctly corkage is outlawed.

Yes, Jim Nejaimeā€™s in Lenox is the best wine shop in the county.

Alta in Lenox is good.

John Andrews is very good, but may be too south for you. Same with Cantina 229.

Check out the Break Room at Greylock Works in North Adams. Havenā€™t tried it personally but heard good things.

Smokey Sweet BBQ in Canaan, NY.

Havenā€™t been to T&V for a couple of years as COVID has discouraged me from traveling to the ā€œotherā€ side of MA, but they haev a good selection and reasonable prices for Mass. No experience thus far with Nejaimeā€™s, although Iā€™ve been meaning to stop by next time Iā€™m in the area.

For restaurants, Iā€™ve enjoyed the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge in the past. Nice colonial atmosphere in addition to excellent food, and a smallish, but nicely curated wine list.

Thanks for all the feedback. We made it to Pittsfied but not Lenox, so Nejaimeā€™s will have to wait until next time.

In Pittsfield we had a very good dinner at Mission, one of the only places we could find open on a Sunday evening. Contemporary small plates style menu focused on seasonal ingredients with a well-chosen selection of reasonably-priced BTG options. Definitely would eat there againā€¦

We are staying at the Berkshire Mountain Lodge during the second weekend of October.
Saturday night dinner is at The District (Pittsfield), and Sunday dinner is at Pera Bistro (Williamstown).
Too bad that decent places there disallow BYOB.

I used to bring wine to The Old Inn on the Green in New Marlborough (donā€™t know their current pandemic rules). Great atmosphere, good cooking, worth the drive.

Every restaurant told me that if they have a license to serve alcohol the law prohibits them from allowing BYO. Of course, that is consistent with what you said. LOL.

Not much autumn coolness or color this year.

From leaf peeping to leaf guessing.

For a ā€œwine storeā€ take a peak at Liquors Inc which has its retail storefront in Pittsfield. Online at https://www.liquorsinc.com/

Wine stores: Table and Vine in West Springfield. Smaller: Spirit Haus and Amherst Wine & Spirits (Amherst) and Provisions (Northampton).

Out of curiosity, which school? I went to Williams.
