One Day in Geneva

Planning on a day in late June 2022, not the little town in New Work but the second-most populous city in Switzerland.

Sights to see, lunch to eat, roads to travel?

Do you like watches?

The town is a bit dull, the old town is nice but small. Red Cross museum is good as is UN tour (book in advance).

Drive past it for an hour and go to Annecy, in France.

…but good luck finding the French entrance to the Geneva airport by car. I got painfully lost attempting this after dark.

But Savoie is accessible and lovely - search up IlkkaL’s excellent travel posts on destinations in this corner of France.

Not exactly Geneva but this is a wonderful place.

Cheers, Mike! Looking like a nice trip.

My understanding is that we should all go out to Montreux.

I used to spend four weeks a year in Geneva. It’s quite boring as their are a lot of international expats there. There is a nice old town that’s good for a short stroll and some shopping. A boat trip around the lake in the summer provides a nice view of some of the mansions around the lake. So many other cute places nearby to go instead.

One restaurant - old classic, kitschy, but excellent fondue and racelette - Les Armures

If you want the full Swiss treatment with Alpenhorn etc - try the Edelweiss hotel in Paquis
