Meanwhile this offer has been deleted, no longer appears on the website. Probably an error.

I just bought a case, I’m three for three on his offers, I’m an importer and distributor of fine imported wines. Therefore, I thought this was a great entry into Napa wines at incredible prices. Best of luck to Cameron on his team on the new endeavor

I’m a buyer.
The one thing I am a bit puzzled by, though, is the statement that they will store the wine for cool weather shipping, but for a fee.
I have purchased wines at all times of the year, from sellers ranging from very large retail outlets to very small independent wineries. In all cases, they are happy to hold the wine at no charge.

Benchmark charges a fee if they hold for more than a month. I really like them, but they do charge for extended holding.

The business seems predicated on low margins + never really holding inventory. If the margins are low enough, having to hold wine — especially since they only sell by the case, and about half the country is now too hot for ground shipping — could turn an offer negative pretty quickly.

Yeah, I suppose you are correct. I am used to the “traditional“ retail model, but that is not his operation. Very good point.

It would be nice if there was a bit more clarity on the fees for the various shipping and storage options. For me, ground shipping isn't an option for probably 6 months. Paying for air or cold-chain shipping, or monthly storage to hold until the shipping window opens could change the whole value proposition for these offers.

I think they only charge if you hold for a month after it’s safe to ship.

For sure. Since the wines are just being bottled (according to Cameron), no point in rushing to get them.

I think earlier in a thread he stated that when we get them we should lay them down for a few months or have them hold onto it since they were just bottled.

I got 2 cases of #1 and #2 and got 1 case of #3 #4 #5 and will get 1 case of #6 and then pause till I try them all unless something really interesting hits.

Will happily drink <$15 cabs as my every day if these are even half as good as I expect them to be.

Can someone explain the difference between CH and De Negoce?

Does CH make its own blends with extra grapes?

Does De Negoce let the vineyard winemaker make the blend and offer the exact same bottling as would be in its standard label?

I really like this idea, but should I just be buying smaller lots of CH is my question?

Main differences (I think)

De Negoce has not bottled the wines prior to sale. They sell, then bottle.
De Negoce is owned by CH. CH no longer owns CH but will consults there.

I think the rest is the same? I do not think all the De Negoce wines are the same as the winemakers but in a private label. I think it's bulk grapes and similar to the winemakers other stuff but not the same. This part I'm less certain of.

In for 2 cases #6 and will pause till I actually try this stuff. But expecting good stuff and great every day drinking wine.

My impression (maybe Cameron can affirm) is that this label is aimed more squarely at the "premium" end.
This offering was very tempting, but I'm already in for 2 cases of his Cab. Fortunately, sounds like Cameron has other stuff coming, which will justify my irrational wine buying practices.

I think this seems like a better value to me but I have no idea. I have browsed the CH website and there is basically no cab so there is no apples/apples. I'm a cab drinker pretty much exclusively so all these offers shouted out to me.

I ordered a case of # 6 :

Priced at $70+/bottle and composed primarily of Oakville and Rutherford benchland fruit with a bit of Howell Mountain and Calistoga to round out the blend, this 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the better values in under $100 Napa Cabernet to begin with...at $156/case or $13/bottle it is simply stunning.

His latest email just mentioned that for those who aren't keen on CS to stay tuned for other varieties such as Pinot, Rose, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc etc.
