It would be nice if these critics would actually evaluate this wine and others in a blind setting. WA 100, V 99, so predictable and overinflated!. No margin for something superior.
I guess I’m first wave. I have been buying since the 2005 vintage. I drink them from time to time on important occasions. Are they worth it? Only if you can afford it. You can probably buy 3, sell 2, and make out OK, but I’ve never done that, so I do not really know.
Like a few others, this is my first time off of the waitlist and I’m in wave 3 (Mar 10). Fingers crossed there will be bottles left, but won’t get my hopes up…
Feb 24 here. We just drank a 2010 on Friday and it was excellent, even with a short decant ( < 1 hour ) . $500 may be the breaking point, I think the first vintage I got was '07 for under $200 IIRC
My recollection is of a Wine Spectator story in the early 2000s with the owner being quoted as saying the price wouldn’t go above $150 (maybe it was $125?) per bottle because the wine should be accessible and drunk. I dropped off the list after 2007.
I’ve purchased every vintage since the inaugural vintage. Here are the historical prices per bottle and annual percentage increase. Compounded it’s 10.58% annually.
