I looked back at what I wrote Larry later that evening and I didn’t mention anything about the nose. What I do remember was the nose was compelling enough to ask my wife for her thoughts even though she wasn’t going to do any tasting that day. I wrote was that I was looking forward to seeing how the color developed as it was an almost electric purple a couple weeks ago. And that light, fresh and slightly spicy green quality would lend this to pairing with more delicate meals.

My 2016 aberration will be something completely different - 100% whole cluster cab franc, 100% stainless steel aged…

The fun thing for me is making different varietals and seeing how they develop. In addition to the Cabernet Franc, I’m making my first Carignane this year as well - and it will be on the ‘lighter’ side as well.

And Greg, we ALL know that Pinot and Grenache are biological twins separated at both, right?

Missed tasting the 16 at FallTacular and not happy about it, but it got some plus-side comments from a number of people. I do like CF and I like what Larry does with wine, so it should be a good marriage for me.

As you know, love the Mourvedre–yum, yum!
