A bunch of us opened a 98 Clape a month and a half or so ago. I don’t think it really needed all that much time in the decanter. Phenomenal nose. Tasting notes should be somewhere around here…
Good for you. As I said, it’s a tasting note from 2006. Interest in and information about Allemand has changed dramatically in the ensuing years. Inlcuding this from Rare Wine Co.:
In fact, Thiérry did produce a blended Cornas under his own label in 1989 and 1990. It was not until the négoce stopped buying in 1991, that he began to make his two iconic named cuvées, Cornas Reynard and Cornas Chaillot.
Can you post a picture of the 1990 reynard? I just had a bottle of 1990 Cornas, no distinction. I was also under the impression there wasn’t a reynard distinction in 1990. I know he’s made two blends, as I’ve had two different 1989 blends but they are merely labeled as Cornas or Cornas-young vines.
I said I´ve HAD a 1990 R. (in 2010) … so I might have the label somewhere, but definitely not sure (but I´ve got the TN)… and I have absolutely no time to search for the label over the next days ´cause I had a big tasting yesterday and another one tonight … with parts of my work shifted to next week …
Here’s the 89 young vines label I had. It’s labeled Cuvee Jeunes Vignes. AMazing bottle of wine. THierry was doing all kinds of things, just so little info out there other than first hand experience from each person!!
