The trip I went on was billed as spend a day with Rene Redzepi at Noma Mexico and included a special Noma lunch. Noma Mexico did not offer lunch and I interpreted it as spending the day WITH the Noma team. It turned out to be a day of sight seeing in Tulum with a taco lunch on the beach and dinner at Noma. I had already had dinner at Noma Mexico and valued spending the day at Noma with Rene and team. Amex thought there was huge value in the dinner and everything else was filler and just could not understand why I did not. In the end they did refund amy money minus the cost of the dinner and I skipped all of the sightseeing.
Hmmm. I was at a vertical luncheon with him and found him charming.
I will say that I met him and spent time with him at the winery…not long after his father died, and at at time when his brother-in-law, who I had met several times, wasn’t around. He was very stiff, but…he was filling big shoes and his feet might have been sore.
maybe he was a little cranky because his father died ?
