I bought most of my 2019s in the U.K, with the caveat that if the tariffs are still in place they will hold them for six months. After that I will have to pay storage, which is a little more expensive than here. The break even is that the tariffs would need to last eighteen years.
Both the US and EU made those arguments. And in both cases the WTO said your subsidies are wrong. (Though the EU subsidies were larger). Now it’s just a question of how to reduce or eliminate the mutually authorized retaliatory tariffs.
Trump asserted he’s the tariff man. Biden doesn’t seem to hold them quite so dear, so it seems like directionally Biden is more likely to work to eliminate them through negotiation. But who knows what he’ll actually do and when.
It’s just unlikely that these tariffs are going to be a day 1 priority.
