Best way to remove wine stain from fabric

Charles, a lot of great suggestions in here. I’ve used both Wine Away and Oxy Clean with great results. I’ve now had three bottles of red wine spilled on my carpet and they all came out. There’s hope!

I’ve used the salt treatment, too, with success on carpet. But, you have to do it right away after you’ve blotted up most of the wine. Dump a lot on.

Why would you ask Andrew for advice about anything, other than corn and structural engineering?

Oh, for SURE I didn’t ask him for advice - that’s folly - he just knows of a certain time where it Wine Away performed a miracle

Oddly, pouring white wine on the spill is a quick fix in a jam.

I’ll second the Wine Away rec, but also add that I’ve found a ~50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and soap to be pretty effective and you can use it now. Also Oxyclean works well.

With all of them, be sure to give the liquid some time to penetrate the stain. I don’t know what effective ingredients in Wine Away are, but I’d bet a lot of money that it’s got an oxidizer in the mix–it seems to be essential in making the pigment less stable.

I’ve not yet had a wine stain that Wine Away didn’t solve.

With kids in the house I now keep a small carpet/upholstery cleaner around - the kind that are often sold for pet stains. It’s great to be able to hit a spill right away before anything dries. Super easy to use - the hardest part is cleaning up the machine after use. Have used on our wool rugs and natural fiber sofas without issue.

White wine !! It works !!!

And I don’t mean for you to drink it .

I did the same thing few years ago. Wine away was amazing

I use scissors. They rid the stain every time.

I’ve heard that you know a trick for getting a tablecloth full of spilled wine back into the bottle. True?
