Man you gotta keep those geese! In the Bay Area there’s bacteria in the lakes and rivers because of high concentrations of those geese. In San Mateo they reclaimed an old oyster farm and turned it back into wetland. That’s a nice idea. Problem is that there are no predators left, so the geese just reproduce. And the weather isn’t all that bad, so when they introduced the geese, the geese decided not to leave. So they stay there year round.
Now they hire a guy to go out and search for eggs in the spring. He’s supposed to coat them with oil, which somehow prevents them from hatching. But he can’t get them all.
I thought that about eight years ago they removed the geese from the protected list, but maybe they didn’t hear in the Bay Area.
