Looks great, congratulations Chad! If it’s all below grade in Chicago your floor should make a nice heat sink. In the meantime high 60s is nothing to worry about.

And if you do get worried, should be easy to knock out a hole above the door for a through the wall cooling unit.

Capacity is 960 bottles + 36 Mags in a 5’ X 9’ space.

Looks great, custom or prefab racking?

Pre-fab, stackable racking. Very simple assembly.

Good luck with your cellar. I had a company come out and quote me 40K for a 15’ x 12 room.

Thanks, Tony. My all in cost for the 960 bottles was $5400. Racking was largest portion at about $3k. But, mine is a much smaller space (5’ X 9’) than you are talking about. And, that doesn’t account for the cost of my time, of course.

Who makes the racking?

I bought it from Winecellarinnovations.com. Pretty sure they don’t make it but they were helpful and price-matched when I found nearly identical racking elsewhere.
