Last time I was in Chicago, I had a Brickstone APA at the hotel. One of the better beers I had all year- and I am not even a hops fan. I know nothing else of their line-up nor know what it is like to visit the brewery itself, but I know that next time I ma in town it will be #1 on the list.
Ended up spending the whole day Monday at the Art Museum- so that cut my visit time down -
But two breweries really did stand out -
DOVETAIL - Really well made lagers - with a surprising Rauchbier -
OLD IRVING BREWING CO: Tried everything on tap, mainly hazy Double IPAs - all well made - balanced - enjoyed them all - even the lighter lagers were terrific here -
The only one I hit was the Hofbrauhaus - which of course is kind of commercial - I greatly miscalculated how much time I would spend at the Art Museum - took almost my whole Monday -
