Jay did you have 2006 Dom at Thursday’s dinner? The Dom we had Friday was the 2002 (unless you were hiding a btl under the table ;p). I wasn’t real impressed with the 2002 Dom but I tend to like them better at 25-30 years of age. The 88 and 90 are in a sweet spot now.
You are correct sir, it was the 02 so my bad. I just don’t see the acidity present for long term improvement.
drinking 09 tonight. Nice wine. No cartwheels. Happy to have a few for a decade hence but no great shakes now. Prefer 164, bigger and better, like the fruit more in 164.

I also like the 164eme better than the 09 Dom. But that’s comparing 2008 to 2009. I like the 09 Dom better than the 09 Cristal.
for me, it’s comparjng two different $150 purchases and which I prefer. Not a vintage issue for me—it’s about which wine I want more.
I prefer the 09 dom right now, and we’ll see about later.
The 09 really is drinking well now, but I really enjoy the 06. That’s a tough call. I think the 06 will be better in the long run.
06 has more backbone. 09 is richer and fatter, but not flabby. Two very different wines. I like the crispness of 06 but 09 is no slouch
