FedEx Is Coming Apart at the Seams

Yeah, I get that volume has risen due to the Christmas holidays but really? I have three boxes coming from Berock that are all on a master billing, meaning they all left from the same place at the same time. Box 1 arrived in Tracy, CA on 12/10 with no movement since. Box 2 arrived at my local fedex distribution warehouse in Kennesaw GA on 12/13. And, box 3 is in Sacremento CA as of 12/10. This is absolutely nuts! I know that their systems are not always updated correctly or on time, but how are all three boxes in three differnt places? (probably not). But how am I supposed to plan to sign for them when they arrive? And they all have the dreaded “will be updated soon” for the eta on delivery. Sigh…

My issue with both FedEx and UPS is several of my wine orders recently haven’t been redirected to an access point as requested. I’ve redirected online, gotten the confirmation email, shows redirected requested online, and they still try to deliver to my house and leave a call tag.

I got all my wine that shipped this Fall. What I don’t understand is one winery says it’s too cold to ship though ten others ship without issue and now I likely won’t get those until Spring, just in time for the Spring release.

Shipping this time of year is tricky, and requires temperature controlled shipping through the cold states (mountains) and reasonable temps in the final delivery area. It’s very much like threading a needle and if a possible occurence like the photo is the result then waiting until Spring may be the best option. (The cork was not pulled in the photo, that’s how far it was extruded by freezing, though lucky enough that the bottle did not break)

Living in Colorado, all my wine comes through the cold. I don’t understand how 9 can make it and 1 chooses to not ship. Ultimately I buy less wine from the one who doesn’t ship because the shipments get stacked. One arriving when another release is announced. So for them I guess it’s dammed if they do, dammed if they don’t.

I have never had an issue with cold weather shipping and that’s saying something living where I do.

I’ve been buying and shipping wine for nearly 40 years and have never had a bottle damaged by cold weather. I am sure it is possible, and indeed that it happens, but we’re talking about alcohol here. You’d need very cold temps for an extended period.

From GSN. We’ll see how this goes.

Thank you for your call earlier today; I am sending this email to follow up so we have a log of any updates to the status of your shipment. I opened the investigation with FedEx on Wednesday 12/11 and continue to monitor the tracking. I followed up with FedEx today to urge them to locate and update the tracking for the shipment. I appreciate your patience while the investigation is in process and will provide an update as soon as I have an update from FedEx.

I apologize for the inconvenience of this delay.

This one?

Jim Anderson initially thought some PGC wine may have been damaged in this derailment, but later confirmed all was okay.

FedEx sucks.

They all suck at times. From what I can tell, FedEx has three different delivery networks offering different priced delivery options (they bought out competitors). The original FedEx (FedEx Express) is the best of their offerings.

FedEx has had a package of mine at the local hub for a week. I’ve called numerous times to see when it will be delivered to me, and no one will give me an answer. It is 15 mins away, but apparently, I am unable to pick it up. This morning I asked that they hold it at a local FedEx store, thinking that maybe I will get some movement now on the package? It’s really frustrating.

Went to pick up my Kinsman Eades package from Walgreens this morning, i was notified it was ready for pickup two days ago. Walgreens says it’s not there. Fedex was less than helpful when i called… the individual i was speaking to just continued to tell me the package was ready to be picked up even though i repeatedly told them i was at the location and the package isn’t there. It’s like the classic runaround. Walgreens says it’s not there and Fedex says it is, leaving me in the middle. Frustrating to say the least.

Edit: Nothing constructive or helpful here, just ranting to blow off some steam.

Did you ask for who signed for it at Walgreens?

This. I would also inform Walgreens the value of the contents…

Walgreens didn’t have record of anyone picking it up or it ever being delivered. The package was still showing out for delivery on their device, while i got the delivery notification two days ago. I did mention it was of high value.

I’ve gotten phantom notices, but I always go off the tracking. Does your tracking show delivered? If so, you need to start a claim.

When i check the app and website, yes, it shows delivered. When the Walgreens employee typed the tracking number into their fedex device, it says out for delivery. When fedex customer service checks, it shows delivered. Walgreens manager says that the delivery driver is bad about picking up yesterdays deliveries as new pickup packages and that it’s probably coming back today. What a circus.

I got caught in this loop one time. Same story.
FedEx said it was delivered, Walgreens said they don’t have it. FedEx customer service was less than helpful. The FedEx app showed delivered and that’s why I went to pick up in the 1st place. I waited 2 days and then went back to see if the situation resolved itself before I contacted the shipper. It was there.

possibilities for your parcel:
1-FedEx entered a false delivery. Possible they had entered X packages delivered but actually only delivered X minus 1 and parcel was left on the truck to be delivered the next day
2-package was delivered and not yet entered in Walgreens system as received. I think this was the likely case in my situation . Walgreens receiver just had FedEx driver drop the parcels with the intent of scanning in later, which never happed until a day or two later
3-boxes got mixed up and was delivered to a different address or delivered to Walgreens but then put back on the truck mixed with outbound FedEx packages
4-nefarious opportunist absconded with the package

Good luck, I hope you are fortunate and the package shows up.

The shipment that should have shown up on 12/5 arrived on 12/16. At least it is no more beat up than usual.

My bottles from UPS that were shipped on 12/2 are now arriving on 12/24 due to mishaps by UPS. So 3 weeks shipping cross-continent in some freezing temperatures. Not sure if I should try one bottle early to see if it affected the wine.
