Had a wine moment tonight that I’ll never forget

We did a huge wine dinner at Pappardelle in SF about a decade ago. Their dinner plates are huge, we had many glasses each and real estate was at a premium. At one point I reached forward for a bottle. The bottom of my forearm just barely brushed the lip of a stem that was tucked under my plate. I felt and heard the crack and reflexively pulled back and caught the stem. A few drops spilled, but I saved the wine. The stem was shattered at the base. These were all restaurant glasses. No available bowl to pour my wine into, so epic turned to awkward as many minutes went by as I held onto this thing I couldn’t put down while trying to hail one of the very busy staff to get a replacement stem.
