I saw a shelf talker yesterday with an 84 point score

Genius move! The shop know their customer segments. And quite a customer statement to go for the perfectly scored 84 pointer. Most alcohol intake for the money and no horrible long finish to be reminded of how bad the wine drinks after chugging rather than sipping the wine.

I want to see a 50 point wine labeled as “Free”

You had me at “Short on palate appeal…”

There are two issues here:
What made it attractive to the store’s buyer?
Why put up the shelf talker, if it had been read?

If the wine is as reported, perhaps they are trying to remedy the purchasing error with anything at hand, plus they will not have to talk about it and tarnish their personal reputation verbally with their clients to make it disappear.

I’m guessing two employees had a bet about how many bottles would sell.

Honestly, I’m just jealous they have the barcodes on the shelf. I’m sure it makes things a lot easier for restocking.

Is Cigar Box a good vineyard?

The Cab has a full page in WE and a 91 from JS. This must be really good. newhere

Where’s the joke? It’s two different wines.

The WE subscription was free with the Grand Reserve Card and it reminds me why I had never paid for the subscription.
