LA (Super)Market Thread

I don’t believe I’ve ever had abalone; what does it taste like?

yeah I’m not sure about the seafood quality at korean markets. Besides HMart, Han Nam Chain and the Galleria markets both have a good selection of general Korean foods, esp prepared foods (like kits for make-at-home naeung myun, frozen dumplings, good kimchi, etc.), but I’m not sure how they’d be for meats/fish.

I like El Gaucho market in Redondo Beach for Argentinian cuts of beef, and the chorizo. They also have a small cafe where they sell empanadas, beef sandwiches, etc.

Love that place…right in my neck of the woods! flirtysmile

Cheers!

Gotta give another shoutout to Epicurus Gourmet. Been 4 weeks in a row now. Such a great selection of stuff. Picked up a bag of Hudson Valley Foie Gras “cubes” that are so big they’re more like medallions. 1lb for $32 out the door. Pretty damn good. Maybe Todd can convince them to participate in the next Berserkerday!?

Mitsuwa is a great Japanese market. The Venice/Centinella location is pretty good, but I don’t have any comparison points. Their mushroom selection is to die for.

Super King is another reasonably good store - lots of eastern European and Mediterranean stuff at good prices.

FYI to fans of Bordier butter, Epicurus Gourmet (mentioned in this thread) has Bordier butter in stock in limited supply.

So, Alhambra…I guess you get the added bonus that they didn’t move far from their source!
