LastBottleWines.com (Last Bottle Wines) Deal Discussion Thread (Part 1)

At least for my palate, “really like it” is an understatement. It’s lovely.

And this is why I’m liking the 2011’s… champagne.gif

Anyone have any info at all on todays Praelum Cabernet Sauvignon / 2018? I’m coming up blank except for a restaurant in Singapore.

It could very well be a private label bottling (?)

that’s a real mystery wine

Offer says best web $95. I couldn’t find anything either.

Still up on their site. Bet we’ll see this in the next Marathon.

not much info from COLA:

Top It Off Bottling, Top It Off Bottling LLC
2731 & 2747 NAPA VALLEY CORPORATE DR

Napa CA 94558

PRAELUM CELLARS (Used on label)

Assuming everyone already knows this, but if there is a “deal“ on LB on a wine that (according to the Internet) barely exists, caveat emptor.

ABOUT US
TOP IT OFF BOTTLING HISTORY
Top It Off Bottling was started as a mobile bottling company by Michael Glavin in 2005 while on a “retirement” RV trip with his wife. Within a few years Top It Off Bottling had multiple bottling lines and a crossflow filtration trailer. Today, Top It Off Bottling has become one of the leading winery service providers in Napa.

BOTTLING PHILOSOPHY
Top It Off Bottling has created a team of professional bottlers with calm customer focused attitudes. Many of our bottling staff have more than 20 years of bottling experience and they put this to use every day helping our customers create the best wine with the best looking packages. As a team we are dedicated to turning out a quality product efficiently. This philosophy extends into our barrel storage operation as well where our goal is cleanliness, efficiency and customer service with the ultimate end goal being a quality product in the bottle.

TOP IT OFF BOTTLING TIMELINE
May 2005 – Top It Off Bottling was started as a company in Sonoma and the first bottling truck was built.

October 2006 – Top It Off Bottling purchases Line #2, a 100 bottle per minute line.

February 2007 – Top It Off Bottling purchases Line #3 from Last Chance Bottling.

March 2007 – The first TIOB Pall Oenoflow Crossflow trailer was built and put into operation.

January 2014 – Top It Off Bottling moves to Napa and opens the bottling facility on Devlin Road.

May 2017 – TIOB acquires Napa Barrel Care and moves both companies into the former Dey Labs facility on Napa Corporate Drive.

February 2018 – Top It Off Bottling acquires AT Mobile Bottling which adds two additional bottling lines to the TIOB fleet.

Maybe Top It Off had some barrels left over from deadbeats and decided to bottle it up and recoup some bad debt???

BARREL STORAGE
Top It Off Bottling and Napa Barrel Care merged in May of 2017 and now offer barrel storage in a separate 50,000 square foot building that is attached to the bottling facility with a protected fork lift hallway. The facility has a 20,000 barrel capacity and offers many options and programs for barrel treatment and storage.

At Top It Off Bottling, our barrel services include much more than just storage…

Rack and return
Ozone treatment
Steam treatment
High pressure, hot water wash
SO2 gas empty barrels
Wine additions

Am I missing something? What is the tie in to LBW?

No tie to LBW other than some collective sleuthing to learn more about the current bottle offer (Praelum). Presumed (by me) to be a wineries declassified tank that didn’t make the cut.

I asked Top It Off–they claim to simply be a bottling facility and told me to contact the people who made it. I don’t know who that is…round and round they go!

Wait a couple of months. Someone will probably post it on CT.

Wait a couple of weeks and I’ll post on CT.

Already regretting my purchase of 3 bottles, but, hey, I’ve been pleasantly surprised before. One reason I sprang for the trio is because there was no mention of vanilla or chocolate covered cherries in the tasting note. That’s worth $20 right there! What bothers me is that Last Bottle listed a best web price when, in reality, there is no other web price.

I think that’s what got WTSO in trouble some years ago.

Agreed. The Best Web is a guessing approximation of many Oakville AVA cabs (if not cheaper). At $35, it’s worth the gamble and you’ll likely get what tastes exactly like a $35 2018. Looking forward to your review!

I’m in for four of the Coriolis Syrah, seems like a no-brainer.

Anyone familiar with the current offer, Gallimard Grande Reserve Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs? I don’t expect much from $25 champagne, but have been pleasantly surprised on flyers in the past.

I don’t know who ‘the drunken cyclist’ is but he has something to say on this subject

Cyber Monday Theorize Cabernet @ $29–is that really the best they could come up with? It’s $29 every year on several sale sites. Strange business model–it’s really $80, but you can buy it for $29 year after year. Weak; no thanks.
