Well, if it’s anything like today’s Italian marathon, it would just be their regular, regionally specific items on repeat. I’ve checked in maybe 25 times today, as I love Italian wines, and did not see a single wine that was not in their normal rotation. If there was anything new or interesting, I missed it. I’d advise that if they go this route in the future, they need to mix some new wines in with their regular items.
Have they ever done a sparkling-only/last bubbles marathon? That would do some serious damage.
Their sister side Lastbubbles has
Last Bottle has not done that, to my knowledge. Thats what Last Bubbles is for, same company.
Any guesses as to the source of today’s offer?
Mystery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018 3-Pack Horizontal
97 POINTS, 96 POINTS, 97 POINTS! Three fantastic Napa vineyards – Pritchard Hill, Rutherford, St. Helena. One legendary winemaker. Who’s ready for the MYSTERY to end all mysteries?!?!
Oh yeah…did I mention, OVER THREE HUNDRED FORTY DOLLARS OFF?! Yep…no typo there, folks – go on and chisel this in shimmering marble atop the ALL-TIME Mystery deals monument that we keep in the back corner of the warehouse…’cause it is ON!
Extremely rare, extremely collectible, and extremely cool…that’s what’s on the table today. We can’t give the winery name, and I’ve had one hand tied behind my back on the details we can share – but here’s what you need to know – apart from, you absolutely have to make this yours!!!
-
100-point winemaker (many times over) who has crafted wines at top-growth Bordeaux estates as well as some of Napa’s most cult-y wineries.
-
100% cabernet sauvignon for each, made in the same fashion, and held to the same rigorous standards…so you can decide which terroir reigns supreme!
-
The Rutherford vineyard stands next to Sloan, the St. Helena property next to Joseph Phelps, and the Pritchard Hill location sits on the western edge of the prized hill – a stone’s throw from Ovid, Colgin, Brand, and more.
-
OVER 55% OFF on three Blue-Chip Napa cabs that are endlessly impressive!
-
The incredible 2018 Napa Cab vintage that received 99 points overall from Wine Spectator – with wines like this being one of the chief reasons why!
-
97, 96, and 97 POINTS for each from a TOP critic? With TONS of praise across the entire critical spectrum for this vintage (and every other one in this portfolio.) I mean, C’MON!
I’m not sure which of you super-sleuths can guess just what winery, and exactly which top Napa winemaker crafted these stunning beauties (ok, bonus hint of the extra obscure variety: gruyere cheese!) Hmmm, that may not have helped. But sometimes, a deal is soooo unbelievably EPIC, that you simply have to throw caution to the wind, and go BIG on the sort of deal you’ll be bragging about for the rest of the decade! HUGE scores, UNREAL savings, CRAZY limited…what more can you ask for?!?!
Underground Cellar upgrades?
My first reaction is that this is “The Debate” made by Jean Hoefliger
Wonder what the Gruyère cheese reference is?
I’m quite confident it is “The Debate”. Jean is Swiss, Gruyere is well known cheese from Switzerland.
Probably Artalade, Denali and Sacrasche vineyards.

Yep, gotta be
Worthwhile purchase? Looks intriguing
If you like Napa cabernet that is somewhat modern but not over the top, it probably isn’t a bad purchase. Figure its ~$100 per bottle delivered for single vineyard wine.
Definitely on the cheaper end for well made SVD Napa juice.
I met the owners of the Denali Vineyard last week. They now keep their fruit and make their own wine with Jean at the helm. I tasted their 2019 and 2021 Denali Vineyard and it’s pretty good stuff. I’ve enjoyed Jean’s work at Alpha Omega and AXR. As mentioned Jean makes modern Napa Cab but not as big as say a Bevan or Mike Smith Cab. I’m probably going to pull the trigger on this offer.
I’ve had The Debate wines from a couple of the Beckstoffer heritage sites. Good, well made modern wines but they didn’t really blow me away. It’s a good buy if you’re looking for more Napa cabs. My cellar overfloweth so I’m passing.
I ended up buying what we think is The Debate. Came out to $299.41 with tax and shipping insurance. So technically less than $100 per bottle all in.
My big order of San Lorenzo from Invino landed on my door step yesterday. Out for curiosity, I decided to send an email to the email that is on the San Lorenzo/Journeyman website asking for more info on this Hillside Red. None other than Cathy Seghesio, Pete’s wife got back to me within 30 minutes. I asked her how this wine differed from their normal Rock Garden Zinfandel. Her answer:
“It is RockGarden. We stopped using Zinfandel on the label at one point because we felt like it was a great red in the world and should not be pigeon-holed as Zinfandel.”
Opened 2 bottles off the UPS truck last night. Awesome wine. Should have pulled the trigger on 6 cases vs. 6 bottles at that price. Congrats to all that purchased!
Heavy bottles! Looking forward to opening one soon.
Does anyone knkw anything about the Pact(e) meurseault for sale on Firstbottle? Great deal for the juice, but i dont really know what im buying
Opened the 2020 Tobias “Formation“ Cabernet this evening, which was from an offer a while back, and fostered some discussion, in no small part due to the Forman family connection.
Bottom line, I think people will be happy with this. Under 20 bucks a bottle delivered, it drinks well above that. Actually tastes like Cabernet Sauvignon, nice fruit and some fine tannins. Ready to go, recommend a bit of air at this time.
