I like you a lot! Hope that soothes your feelings!

I think Jared just got hoodwinked.

I was in Arlington yesterday and their selection was terrible, they used to always have some good bottles.

Yup I live nearby and check regularly. They have Folum cask 3 for under 4, Kirkland Chianti Grand Selezion, and Kirkland Gigondas. Those were the items of interest I saw. As usual, they have some good california wine on the one end and same good French wine at the other, but not for any good delas.

Who sold their Screaming Eagle to Costco?

Richmond CA location was really boring today. Two mid tier Bordeauxs and mostly mass produced California stuff.

Seattle Times has published their annual reviews of the Kirkland brand wines at Costco. I’m a fan of that 2021 Chablis. Have you Berserkers tried any of the Tuscan Kirkland brand reds?

I am curious why you both feel this way? For the 2011, I’m showing a CT average of $95, they’re selling online for $117 and up. It seems like newer vintages are a little higher price. 2011 seems a good vintage but there’s lots of good vintages in that region.

I’ve only had this wine twice, a 2006 was mildly impressive and a 1997 was fairly impressive.

Taking all that into consideration, the 2011 for $80 seems like a nice little discount but not a ā€œbuy every bottleā€ situation. Am I missing some popularity, scarcity, or critic review?

Stephen, thanks for pointing it out! As a fellow Minnesotan, I am considering going up to Coon Rapids but its a long drive for me and I’d be in for 2 bottles or so like you.

Interestingly, did think about my comment after posting…to clarify this was purely meant for myself and in no way self-asserting to the OP’er. Due to current storage constraints, my maximum purchase limit is in the 3-6 bottle arena. With that being said, I felt the discount was worth it for the purchase total and even more so with the elimination of today’s shipping cost. In other words, the ā€œbuy every bottleā€ was not infinite as it applies to my situation. Either way, for an well aged red wine sounds like a wonderful price…a 94 average with 168 user reviews is ā€œveryā€ impressive to me!

As for the cost to driving to Coon Rapids, oh well can’t think of everything while your in the WOW what a deal posting mentality.

The cheapest price for a single bottle that is showing up in free Wine Searcher is $145. Simply put, $80 is well below current market rate. Now, whether it’s a wine that’s worth it to you is another matter. I put this wine into a blind tasting a couple years ago and it was widely panned, including by yours truly. And it was my contribution. To say I was shocked when the wine was revealed would be to put it extremely mildly.

Yes, I read your note and it is worth considering. You have 2 notes on CT for this 2011 and they are also very different. I have two experiences with this wine but different vintages and different reactions from me. All that is not all that uncommon, different bottles, different situations, maybe different sources and one person decanted where the other didn’t. Just a lot of factors to consider.

Blind tastings are the best, they keep us humble.

So, even after your last blind experience with this wine, would you purchase some for $80?

Would I purchase for $80? No. But that’s purely b/c of my second experience, which continues to vex me to this day. I have a lone bottle remaining, and I’m just sitting on it with the hope that I caught the last bottle at a very bad time in its life. Had I never had that second bottle the, Yes, I’d be all over it for $80. Bottle #1 is what spurred me to spend $100 per bottle for another couple; we saw how bottle #2 went.

Anyone try 2021 vintage of Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Superieur? I really enjoyed 2020, but it was gone by the time I went back to get more. I will definitely drop $7 to taste this vintage, but curious about reviews here.

I didn’t get a shot of the price tag, but today I picked up four 2016 Banfi Brunello at $59.99 per bottle.

Edit: This was at the Noblesville, IN store.
