Fortunately, the OP is not planning any skiing during his trip. The French ski resort workers are planning to strike then (it coincides with the second half of the French late winter school holidays … nice of them to ruin so many pre-paid holidays).
If the OP does want to buy wine, it might be just as easy to pre-order on a site like idealwine.com (no affiliation) and have it delivered to his hotel. Not that there is no pleasure in browsing a wine shop, of course, but probably fewer bargains and more inconvenience. Also, if bought on the internet and delivered thusly, it will be delivered in a styro shipper which is easy to re-check.
