Hi @Tom_Chen, no distinction between the two. We blended the various lots from Blair Vineyard first, and then half the barrels went to the normal Bard and the other half were set aside for a dedicated Blair bottling. The side by side tasting is very interesting for both 2019 and 2023 - there’s really a philosophical (and palate) debate about the individuality of wine from one vineyard vs. the “sum of parts” wine blended from many.
@blarmston yes, August 28. I’m not sure the stars will ever align this way again…when we can release a wine (23 Houyi) at the same time as a major exhibition of the same artist whose work is on the wine label. If you ever wanted to understand the creative process of how we try to weave all the different elements of a wine together into a cohesive identity…this is the gallery tour and dinner to attend!
@DrewB I wholeheartedly endorse you buying a bottle of Riverbound from K&L!! To me that indicates the approach in both channels is working correctly. It’s not always the case…where the winery and the retailer are aligned. I have huge respect for K&L and am grateful for their support. Thanks for sharing your note about 19 Blair Edition! We bottled a few hundred cases of 23 Blair Edition and you won’t find this wine in the primary retail market - it’s only being sold DTC. Some bottles get flipped and end up in secondary market retail but obviously we can’t control that.
