State of Sparkling Wine in California

Interesting. For a while the only sparklings that I consistently liked from Iron Horse were the Russian Cuvee and the Brut LD. The other cuvees just seemed to be missing something. Do you have any recent standouts to recommend?

For quite a few years I didn’t care for any of their wines but a friend suggested I try them again since their vineyard practices and new winemaker had made a huge difference in quality.

Have enjoyed several of their sparkling wines recently, a few standouts include 2018 Brut X (50 Chard, 50 PN), 2018 Rainbow Cuvée (64 PN, 36 Chard) and 2017 Brut Rose (70 PN, 30 Chard).
The fruit notes are fresh and juicy and all have great energy and cut.

I went to Iron Horse a few months ago and did not find much compelling…granted the vintage Brut was good (made it into the cellar) but the only other thing I purchased was the Commander’s Palace brut. Roederer gets a revisit first…then maybe Iron Horse. Thanks to all for such great comments…I had not heard of several bottlings mentioned above.
