Do you recall the abv on these? Are they more modern styled?
There were a couple of 2017 Moutons at $396 all in up in the NW Burbs. Look to be all gone now.
I checked the few I have in the cellar (different vintages/wines) and they are 14.5%. I recall these being structured and full bodied wines, powerful in that way, not the fruit bomb way. I need to try one again, but remember thinking that these should age very well and be great a decade later!
(Note see my later comments on this.)
Any green in them?
I seem to recall that there was, but I think it was not too much. I have one. Will probably give it a try in next few days and will report back.
Thanks for this, some good prices, went for a couple of the 21 cab and 23 chard.
Also 2024 Max Ferd. Kabinetts for $18.99 and 2021 Liminal “The Barberous Heart” - WeatherEye for $29.99
On the William Harrison, I opened a 2020 cab I had at home. I had certainly forgotten about how this one was, but after tasting, now I remember. This is a completely different type of cab. It doesnt even really taste like a cab. It’s squarely medium bodied, no big fruit, mostly red fruit, raspberry, mocha, spicebox, prevalent oak but not overpowering, decent acidity, medium tannins, not much if any green. That was all ok, but there was a slight sappy, syrupy taste on this that I found off-putting. Maybe it was 2020 not showing as well. I recall I bought a bundle at a big discount and this was the only 2020 in the bundle. I fully expect the ones I tasted at the winery were newer vintages and were better.
Not a ringing endorsement based on this description!
Astor 15-50% off all Pinot noir (including drc)
Rye Brook has some deals on millot wines, including 23 suchots and GE, 10OFFMAY for 10% off gives world low on those wines and good pricing on 17 GE and other wines. Also cheap savigny and vosne village for those into those wines.
Thanks @MChang unfortunately Rye Brook doesn’t ship to Illinois ![]()
Envoyer offered 96 mouton for 499
That is a seriously underrated Mouton. And pretty well mature.
Drank it recently, and it is a complete banger, performed admirably right next to a 1990 Latour. Seriously contemplated this offer.
Ok. Trying to redeem myself on William Harrison after the 2020 cab not being so great.
Opened the ‘21 cab franc. This is a nice wine. Pure fruit and varietal. Medium pyrazines. It does not have that syrupy yuck quality the ‘20 cab had. But balance, good acidity, and for $19.95, a great cab franc.
Of course, what I have at home and tried are different vintages. I tasted the bad vintage ‘20 cab and k&l has ‘21 and ‘22. And I tasted the great vintage ‘21 cab franc and k&l had the ‘22. So, who knows and take from this what you will . . .
Good to know! Im debating popping one this weekend ![]()
