im curious how these prices compare to previous years. is BKR seeing the same 30-40% increases they were just starting lower, or has the “Vom Boden effect” not quite hit these wines yet?
Good question, Matt. Loersch is a first time participant, so no prior years there. Maybe Tom will have thoughts later on other producers.
So far marginally up and very modest prices in general. Von Beulwitz spätlese was down a little bit but it was also not very impressive. Some great wines from new joiners: Loersch Trittenheimer Apotheke spätlese was great as were the Pauly Kabinett and Auslese.
Molitor Doctor white capsule had too much wood for my taste but I put in a bid on the gold cap which was phenomenal. Maybe the latter will be my compensation for missing Lieser Doctor yesterday

Kabinett was also very good. Definitely top 3 of what I’ve tasted here, although I think the Von Beulwitz would come in at #1 for me
Good to know. I don’t know too many of the Bernkasteler Ring producers so I didn’t bid on much, but I did pick up some mags of both Loerschs
2 of these for me as well, although I missed 3 bottles by just 1 euro.
This was definitely an edition where it really paid off to be here for the tasting. Some surprisingly good performances, but also some wineries a clear step down from last yeaf.
Got a couple of the Markus Fries Auslese (once again, missed 3 bottles by 2 euro). I’m really interested in seeing the effect of that very long fermentation.
And 2 of the 1993 Kerpen Auslese for 46e.
Interesting wine, much darker and deeper than the Schmitges for example.
