The 91 Sekt is good but the 93 is even better (significantly) in my opinion
How is the Graacher auslese 2001 doing?
That’s actually something I would be interested in as well if anyone has had any recently.
I have actually tasted the 2001 Graacher many times over recent years, and it has been drinking very well. I have always found that wine to be more forward/earlier to drink than the Wehlener, so it’s no surprise to me that it has been showing well. It no doubt has ages to go in terms of longevity, but I would not hesitate to open one. I have had it from good cellaring conditions and perfect cellaring conditions with the same results. All the bottles I have tried were bought on release from an outstanding shop, so no question of provenance.
FWIW, I normally decant this wine for 3-4 hours, and I am not generally someone who decants most wines.
Thanks David. That is great to hear. There are some bottles for sale right now at Wine Watch in Florida so I may have to pick a couple up and give them a try.
Thanks David
