There have been 11 auctions on this Spätlese this year at K&L and prices, while all over the place, have moved steadily upwards. Plus there are multiple threads here about how great this wine is. Don’t know if it’s our fault but tiny supply, big demand spike, and outliers like this appear. I’ve bid on a few of these auctions at what I thought should be winning prices and been surprised at how much higher some of these lots went. The secret is definitely out on this wine!
No, but I’m sure it’s overpriced. I haven’t had any with a lot of age on it, so maybe that’s what I’m missing, but with so many really great Spatlese’s for a fraction of the price, Egon’s doesn’t make sense to me.
