TN: 2013 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph (France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph)

Late to the game but agree with Alan. I think 2013 best Gonon to date. I thought a really tick up in quality starting with the 2011. Not as taken by the prior 2009 and 2010.

Paul

If Paul thinks so, I’m forced to believe it. Of course that’s one of few vintages of Gonon St. Joseph that I haven’t purchased. Figures.

Not the 2013, but opened a bottle of the 2014 Gonon St Joseph last night. For my palate this was in a beautiful place and likely to stay on that plateau for a while. Smoky, meaty, bloody, powerfully savoury, tilled earth, a sprinkle of herbs with a delicious depth of fruit backing it all up. A quiet late evening, wife at work, child in bed, and I very happily luxuriated in the wine as I caught up on some (wine) reading.
