To me it’s more literal than that. It’s red fruit qualities that are typically “crunchy” when consumed fresh, like cranberries, raspberries, red currants. But also have that brightness and lively acidity as noted.
That Ramonet is SO good. It is the definition of crunchy red fruit. Excellent choice.
Don, I think you and I are the biggest missionaries for Red Chassagne on this board. Hopefully, we are enlisting Subu to the cause.
I’ve found the Ramonets to be more ethereal than the others. The Boudriotte is also a little darker fruited than the csj, to me. The 13 csj has nice crunchy fruits and was $39 from nyww until recently.
Try Bernard Moreau. All my CM reds are from one of those two.
There’s that word again. Crunchy
I’ve heard this adjective when talking about red wine. To the OP, when you say “crunchy”, what does that mean? Or I guess to anyone else where the word crunchy comes to mind when describing red wine, what do you mean by “crunchy”?

I have found that a lot of burgundies that have really concentrated bright red fruit with good acidity when young age very well.
Ethan, just drinking whats around at home. Couldn’t locate a Fourrier, but yes he does belong in the red fruit camp. So would Ramonet, was tempted to open a 2017 Chassange Clos St Jean.

I take serious issue with that claim!!!

Welcome. There is room for many. You may like them as much or more than me, but to be a missionary you have to talk about them.

I have some of the cardeuse. both Pillot, Philippe Colin, and others make decent cm reds too.
What, no Fourrier with that title?
Thanks for the notes. Need to try Jouan one of these days.

I would certainly add Ramonet to this list. Have several 2005-2014 that would fit the bill.

Cannot second strongly enough. Had some of the Moreau Chassagne Rouge VV recently, was very impressed.
Ramonet’s whites have gone stratospheric. I’m glad their reds are still a “value” play in burgundy!

They have been getting more expensive in the US.
I opened a crunchy red fruit burg tonight; 2015 Lumpp A Vigne rouge. Delicious, notes later:

I’ve done that numerous times here!
Yes. Dan is definitely a member of the club. Cheers to you Dan. Stay safe in London.

Still not sure what crunchy means.

Interesting line up, thanks for the notes !
