Tonic for vodka and gin. And soda for rum to make mojitos. I go through more tonic especially in the summer than soda.
This is a valid point. I like Gin and tonic is fine, but I’d prefer a Tom collins, or other preparations where I can better control the sweetness input. If at a party or a bar I’ll still order gin and tonic, but the readily available tonic tastes of corn syrup sweetness to me. The higher end tonics now available like Q and fever tree are better but not that great and too pricey. I do like the Fever Tree bitter lemon.
